Employment Hero with Flexopus: Automatically synchronize absences
Anyone who wants to efficiently coordinate hybrid teams needs up-to-date information about who is in the office, who is working remotely, and who is absent. With the Employment Hero integration, Flexopus transfers absence data directly from your HR system – without manual maintenance and without detours.
What is Employment Hero synchronization?
The Employment Hero integration is a one-way data interface between Employment Hero and Flexopus. Flexopus reads absence data from Employment Hero and stores it for the employees concerned.
The following information is transferred: employee ID, absence status, start and end time, absence type (e.g. Vacation, illness, parental leave) as well as optional notes. The assignment is done via the email address of the respective user.
This is a read-only synchronization: absences can only be managed in Employment Hero and are automatically transferred from there to Flexopus.
What is the purpose of integration?
The integration connects your HR system with your workplace management solution – thus closing a common gap in everyday office life: Employees can see directly on the Flexopus homepage whether colleagues are available, remote or absent.
This simplifies the planning of in-person days, reduces unnecessary queries, and ensures that bookings and team coordination are based on actual availability. Anyone who is absent will automatically appear as unavailable – without any additional effort.
In the future, it is also planned to automatically cancel existing bookings when absences are recorded, so that workplaces and resources can be made available for other colleagues.
How easy is the integration?
Setting up Employment Hero integration is straightforward. As an administrator, navigate to the integration settings in Flexopus, select Employment Hero and grant the necessary API permissions in your HR system. Synchronization then starts automatically.

Are sensitive absence data fully transmitted?
No, not necessarily. Flexopus can be configured so that instead of the exact absence type (e.g., In cases of illness or parental leave, only the general status "absent" is transferred. This allows companies to retain control over which information is visible in the system.
What happens when an absence is changed or deleted in Employment Hero?
Changes and deletions in Employment Hero will be automatically transferred to Flexopus during the next synchronization. Absences that have been removed in Employment Hero will also no longer be displayed in Flexopus.
Can I edit absences directly in Flexopus?
No. The synchronization is read-only. Absence data can only be managed in Employment Hero. Flexopus receives the data and displays it, but does not make any changes.
What permissions are required for the setup?
You need administrator rights in both systems – Flexopus and Employment Hero – to set this up. In Employment Hero, the necessary API permissions must be granted so that Flexopus can retrieve the absence data.
Is the HRIS module included in the standard subscription?
